REV. RICHARD STOUP
Rev. Richard Stoup was born at Boston, in Lincolnshire, and educated at the Grammar School of that town. After a residence in Ceylon of nearly six years, he died at Colombo, on the 5th of October, 1829, having previously suffered months of intense pain from indurated liver and he was buried in St. Paul’s graveyard, where the tower of the Dutch church throws its shadow on his grave at eventide. He was gentle in manner, a young man of deep piety, very laborious as a missionary, and much beloved.
